The Challenge

By utilizing Reserved Instances through PTP’s RI Rebate service, reduced rates were secured for predictable and consistent workloads.

Leveraging PTP’s program, which provides access to underutilized AWS capacity at discounts of up to 90%, are well-suited for flexible and fault-tolerant tasks. By adopting a comprehensive strategy that combines Reserved Instances for core and stable operations coupled with ‘Spot’ Instances for adaptable tasks such as batch processing or testing, our client has effectively reduced cloud costs.

This approach not only mitigated expenses but also enabled operations to scale efficiently and adapt to changing demands in a cost-effective manner.

The Outcome

The RI program was implemented at the end of April 2024 and has reduced EC2 spend 53% through September 2024. The RI program has achieved 89% coverage across EC2 and SageMaker since April, providing the flexibility to adapt while simultaneously reaping cost savings through their refined processes.

These re-invested funds enabled new AI/ML initiatives utilizing SageMaker, positioning them at the forefront of technological advancements. This enables them to drive innovation with tangible real-world impacts for numerous individuals who rely on their therapeutic services.
