Event Details

PTP and AWS invite you to join us for this 3-hour hands-on lab to gain valuable expertise working with Amazon Omics.  Upon completion of the workshop, attendees of this session will be able to:

  • Articulate the value proposition of Amazon Omics
  • Load sequencing data into Omics Storage
  • Run a genomics secondary analysis workflow through Omics Workflows
  • Load VCFs (variant data) into the Variant store
  • Load variant annotations into the Annotation store and query both variants and annotations through Athena.

 

The session will begin with leader introductions, an overview of the process, 20-30 minutes of education on Omics and then individual work on the labs supported by the Workshop Leaders.

Itzik Paz, Sr. Startup Solutions Architect, AWS

Itzik has 25 years of experience in development, architecture, and IT. He’s been in startups for over 13 years before joining AWS 7 years ago where he’s been part of founding teams and a CTO. In his current role he’s helping customers with their cloud solutions, mentoring, and running workshops . Itzik is also part of the healthcare and life sciences team.

 

Ariella SassonPrincipal Solutions Architect, AWS

Ariella is an energetic team leader with proven technical expertise and deep knowledge in large-scale computational analysis of genomic data in both HPC and cloud environments. With a background as a Principal Scientist, she has the ability to communicate complex computational and scientific concepts to stakeholders at all levels across the organization.

 

Aaron Jeskey, Sr. Cloud Architect, PTP

Aaron has been building and running workloads in AWS since the initial days of S3.  With leadership roles at Hasbro and Brightcove, Aaron  leads PTP’s cloud consulting practice offering insight into architectural designs to achieve the business results PTP’s clients expect.  Aaron is an AWS Solutions Architect Professional, but that is just part of the story with his vast experience.
